FAQs

How do I know if I need an ADHD assessment?

If you’ve been struggling with focus, organization, procrastination, forgetfulness, impulsivity, or difficulty following through despite your best efforts, an ADHD assessment may help determine whether ADHD or another condition is contributing to these challenges. An assessment provides clarity and helps guide the most appropriate next steps.

What happens during the assessment?

Our assessments are comprehensive and designed to understand your unique strengths and challenges. The process typically includes a detailed clinical interview, standardized assessment measures, a review of your history, and a discussion of how your symptoms affect work, school, relationships, and daily life.

How long does the assessment take?

Most adult ADHD assessments are completed over one or more appointments, depending on the complexity of your presentation and whether additional information is needed.

Will I receive a diagnosis?

If the assessment indicates that you meet the diagnostic criteria for ADHD or another condition within the clinician’s scope of practice, this will be discussed with you along with recommendations for treatment and ongoing support.

Can ADHD symptoms be caused by something else?

Yes. Difficulties with attention, concentration, memory, and motivation can also be influenced by anxiety, depression, sleep problems, medical conditions, stress, trauma, or other factors. One purpose of a comprehensive assessment is to understand what may be contributing to your symptoms.

What happens after the assessment?

You’ll receive personalized recommendations based on your results. Depending on your needs, this may include therapy, executive functioning support, referrals, lifestyle recommendations, additional evaluation, or other appropriate services.
